Two guys on a tandem is not a common site these days.  Not that is was more common in the past, but at least there was a category for track sprinters.  So, us racing a tandem is not ground breaking, but it was uncomfortable at first.

Things that helped get past those embarrassing feelings were, riding the thing, concentrating on not crashing, and communicating actions to one another.  Once the riding relationship got established, it felt more like a bobsled team than two guys going for a ride on a tandem.
